Coconut Drops and Bag Juice - Spanish Town, Jamaica

Hello everyone,
This week was an emotional roller coaster haha. We started figuring out how to make good soup. We also made coconut drops. They were so good. You get pieces of coconut and boil it with sugar water until it gets syrupy. Then poor it out in cookie sizes. It is so good. We went on trade offs this week. I was with Elder Porter. That was good. He basically said it is impossible to find anyone by tracting. So, we are just going to start working with all the less actives. Hopefully, they have friends for us to teach. That is how my week went.
Love you all
Elder Davis

I'm good feeling better. Zone conference was good Elder Gonzales, from the area presidency, came and talked. I got my package.

Yes the backpack will work. It is big, so i can fit my groceries in it.

We put chicken, potatoes, yams, pumpkin, carrot, a scotch bonnet pepper, and soup mix to make Jamaican soup. It is pretty nice.

I did take pictures this week, but i left my camera at home. I will try to send some pictures later today. My bike is good. There are just a couple things that are kind of shaky.

Today, we are going to buy lots of bag juice. I'm sending a package with some shoes for Sayre's birthday. There is some hot sauce and Jamaican soda in it too. I'm going to send one after that with bag juice in it.

I should be good with money. The bag juices are soooooo goood. They cant sell them in the states, because there is too much sugar in them.

For my year mark we are going to burn lots of stuff.

We are hoping to move. We have the number for some apartments. We are going to give it to the mission office.

"Keepin' it real" in Spanish town

Hello everyone! things hear are still going. We did have a baptism on Sunday morning. So, that was awesome. His name is Brother Anderson. He is 81 years old, and is blind in one eye. haha. He is a good guy. Now we need to find some more people to teach. It's still spain town, so that is boring. We got coconuts on Tuesday, so that was cool. Not much happened just keepin' it real.
I love you all,
Elder Davis

I did not get the backpack yet. We have zone conference on Friday, so i should get it at least by then.

The ugly tie protest is going good. The tie is disgusting.

It is good here. I am just trying to stay positive about span town.

The people are just mean here. Last week we sat down under a tree for a little while, and people just kept chastizing and yelling at us. I just don't think about the dumb people.

The shoes are good. ya there are a bunch of good members we can visit us. We are going to start making Jamaican soup. It is cheap and tasted super good.

Stuck in Spanish Town/ Ugly Ties

Hello everyone.
It's me again. I am staying in Spanish Town for 6 more weeks. Nothing too exciting happened this week. This morning Elder Galbraith climbed a coconut tree for our neighbor. That was kind of cool. Thank you for the packages and letters. Thank you everyone for your support. I put Christmas lights on my bicycle. They run on batteries. That was cool. We got invited to a Jehovah Witnesses meeting it was really weird. They all act like robots. Over all not a bad week. I am good. We are just trying to have fun in a hard area. I could use a mosquito net.
I love you all,
Elder Davis

The bike light works awesome. thanks! I will have the same companion. We aren't very excited. We found the ugliest ties we have, and we are wearing them for the rest of the time that we are in Spain town. Everyday

There is a guy getting baptized on Wednesday. He is 80 years old. His daughter is a member in the states so that is exciting. The baptism will be a good experience.

The ward is falling apart (struggling). Yesterday the teacher in Priesthood, drew symbols on the board and explained what they mean. It was bad. We are not letting him teach again. The best part of this area is the food on Sundays and Thursdays.

The bishop doesn't really know what to do with all the problems. I think he is overwhelmed. the stake president is a Chinese man. I think he is a good leader. Sometimes we have to just run things
.

Dinner with the members. Sunday night!

Sick in Spanish Town, Jamaica

Hello everyone,
This week was kind of super boring. We went on trade offs on Tuesday, and from Wednesday through Saturday we were inside sick. My comp was sick, then I was. We are better now. Sunday was awesome though. Linda k Burton and Elder Martinez of the 70 came to church. So, that was really cool. Linda Burton is the general relief society president. Later that night there was a fireside with them. Sister Neill F Marriott from the General Young Women's Presidency was there, also. They all gave awesome talks. That is about how my week went.
Love you all,
Elder Davis

I had some sort of cold. Ya everyone one here loves the Olympics. I'm good! The people were partying all night. There were people running around hitting pans and blowing those horns that they have at the soccer games.

Yea i am good now. It was good to take a break for a while. Transfer calls are next week, so that is exciting.

IDK where I will go, but I think Yallahs for some reason. Other people say I'll go and work in the office. I don't want to go to the office, though.

I'm not sure when i will get the package Sue sent.  I think the zone leaders pic them up, but they don't usually give them out unless its at a meeting. Ill ask them if they have any.

Stuff I need: Send another pair of pants. the golf ones. a new towel. more colored pencils. I think that is it. Have dad draw some light sabers we have been drawing them.

Thunderstorms/ No Power - Spanish Town

Hello everyone!
Sorry for no pictures last week. The internet places here suck. I left my cord for the pics at home. I am going to try to send them later today. This week was long, lots of walking and talking. A lot of the people we had dropped us. So, we are trying to build back our teaching pool. We bought mosquito zappers. They look like tennis rackets, but they are electrified So, it has been fun to wreck all the mosquitoes in our house. Last night, our power went out. So, we didn't have fans. That was fun. The power did come back on at like two in the morning, but hey it builds character. There was a lightning storm this week, so that was cool. The lightning was all around us. A few of the strikes were close. It was pretty exciting. That is how my week went.
I love you all

Frogs - Portmore, Jamaica

Hello everyone,
It seems like a lot is happening back home. Jamaica is great. Spanish Town has been a learning experience. It is so weird here. The people are really strange, but it is funny to watch the weird people. haha President Pearson is great. He has changed a few rules, but they were unnecessary rules. He is cutting out all the unneeded stuff. It is awesome. This week was good though. Last night we caught 34 frogs and put them in our shower. haha Then we let them go in the yard. They were everywhere. haha
I love you all,
Elder Davis

It doesn't rain everyday, but there is a tropical storm moving in. So, it has been pretty rainy lately.

Just Keep Swimming... Spanish Town, Jamaica

Hello Everyone,
This week was long. Lots of walking and finding. We have found some really cool people. Just have to keep swimming. The Harrisons (members) are back, so they fed us on Thursday. That was awesome. Yesterday we met a girl that wants my companion to take her to the states in his suit case. haha. That was crazy. That is about all the crazy stuff for this week. I am doing good, though. Last week our internet turned off. This computer won't let me send any pictures, and I don't want to ruin my camera. We are going to find a new computer place next week. I have to go. I have a lot of pictures for next week.
Love you all,
Elder Davis
