Jabadog - Linstead, Jamaica

Hello everyone!
This week was good. Just a lot of work. We did find some cool people. We found the worlds fattest dog. I call him Jabadog. I'll send a picture. I got some new scriptures, but no mail. People here are different in the way they think. It is kind of like a giant small town. They think Jamaica is the center of the world. But they are still good people. They wear the same thing as Americans. Crazy people will wear like 10 layers of clothes. (idk why) They eat a lot of chickin and dumpling and rice. Nobody has a car for themselves. They just take taxis everywhere. The taxis are just big Rasta men that drive around.
This week was good,
Elder Davis
They told us we had to have shoulder bags and not backpacks. So, I bought this one. :)

A member made us a cake. It says "thug life".

God Works In Mysterious Ways - Linstead, Jamaica

Hello Everyone!
This week was great! We have been finding a lot. Two of the investigators in my old area got baptized. One of them wanted me to baptize her. So that was cool. In the new area, we are just finding new investigators. On Thursday at like 7 o'clock our appointments fell through. KFC is far away, but we wanted to go to KFC so we did. We ordered, then there was one of the workers there that had prayed for help. She was a member. She asked us for a blessing. So that was cool. God works in mysterious ways. Then there was a shop next to KFC. Elder Joe found the new Pokemon game and bought it. haha He sent it to his brother. The ward is good. There are young men and women, but they don't have mutual. Instead they try to do something called Friday night activity, but no one comes out. We live with the bishop. So we will go eat and hang with the other elders then go home and clean the house. Kingston probably has the most hotels. I think I will be in this area for a while. That is how this week went.
Love you all,
Elder Davis

Viewer Discretion is Advised - Linstead, Jamaica

Hello Everyone,
This week was great! There was a baptism in my area, but i didn't know the person. The first day we got a bunch of free food and drinks. Then on day two we witnessed the miracle of life haha. We saw a goat giving birth. We video taped it. viewer discretion is advised, haha. My comp is pretty cool. He is from Salt Lake City,Utah, but he's chill.
The water here is clean, i think. Idk if i'm just use to it or what, but it seems clean. There are trash men. They just drive down the road and grab all the trash. I do not want to live here, I would much rather live in the U.S. Our area is pretty big. It goes from Linstead to Ocho Rios. I sleep pretty good. There are some roosters that wake me up. I might kill them, haha. Teaching is good. We are finding lots of cool people. That is how this week went.
Love you all,
Elder Davis

I caught a goat!
We met this kid and he had the weirdest shaped head.

Finally, grape soda. :)

Proof that Fasting Works - Linstead, Jamaica

Hello everyone!
I heard the patriots won. I legit fasted for it yesterday haha. So, that is just proof that fasting works. Transfers were good, but weird. I am leaving and going to the other side of Linstead with Elder Johanson. I am excited. I am still in the same ward, and I am happy I am staying here.We have a bunch of baptisms in the Bogwalk area. So now its time to line up some baptisms in Uerton. The ward is great. There are a lot of awesome members. I found black leather converse, so i bought them. They have been working. On Sundays, we have coordination at 8 in the morning. Then it is church. we don't really do a whole lot, just participate in class.
5 things I've learned while on my mission:
1 faith is a principle of power
2 the church is true
3 the stories and teachings in the scriptures
4 how to talk to people
5 how to cook jamaican food.
I love you all,
Elder Davis

My new companion is the one in the weird stance in the picture. Tell Elly to look up the self reliance program that the church does. It helps people run and grow their own businesses.

Peace...

I think the children in Jamaica like him :)
